If you’re like me, sometimes you just want a nice sweet treat. Whether it’s chocolate, doughnuts, cupcakes, or some other delight which tickles your fancy… you can find it in Nashville! With such an amazing local food culture, sweets haven’t gotten left behind: there are dozens of amazing local suppliers of sweet treats in town to keep you satisfied. I’ve gone through and decided to highlight many of my favorites!
Music, traffic, and politics aren’t the only big topic of discussion in Nashville which can make folks go at it Hatfield & McCoys style! And that’s the debate of Goo Goo Clusters or Colt’s Chocolates. Goo Goo Clusters are more widely known and produced, but still locally made; Colt’s Chocolates are a small local phenomenon produced out of the Gulch. On this debate, we side with Colt’s! Owned by former “Hee Haw Honey” Mackenzie Colt, Colt’s has been around since the 1980s and continues to create an assortment of chocolates and desserts. Their absolutely amazing ‘Colts Bolts’ are made with chocolate, peanut butter and whole roasted almonds.
Leon’s handcrafted candy comes in dozens of varieties to tantalize those with even the most discriminating tastes! Though I recommend the dark chocolate turtle, their caramel pecan rolls are also to die for, and for the sampler tin you get a whopping value on high-end treats that can’t be beat! This shop is also a must-visit stop for caramel lovers.
5 Daughters Bakery
Ever heard of cronuts? They’re a baking delight which combines the fluffy, flaky dough of a croissant… with doughnuts! Cronuts are a many-layered, fried concoction that’s absolutely to die for. And Five Daughters Bakery brought high-end New York style cronuts to Nashville. They’re expensive, at $5 a pop, but one is usually enough to satisfy anyone… and the amazing flavor combinations (like Chocolate Anise and Maple Bacon) are absolutely divine. But cronuts aren’t the only amazing thing this 12 South bakery serves up!
